Sam Jones
Cal State Fullerton
2024 Top Scholarship Recipient

“Hi!! My name is Samantha Jones. I will be attending California State University of Fullerton starting as an Art Studio major, year 1 and transferring to the Entertainment Art and Animation major, year 2. I love art (of course!), ice hockey, writing, guitar & bass, rock climbing, d&d, sushi, sign language interpreting and watching cartoon shows!! My lifelong aspiration has been to open up my own animation studio and produce an original animated show to capture the whimsy of real life beauty through immersive storytelling and animation. I want to be able to include a diversity of experiences, people, and emotions to create groundbreaking messages that change the world for the better. Delaney Marchant left a legacy of creative and empathic perseverance. She fuels my fights through her unwavering artistic expression, encourages my advocacy for justice and empathy, and has inspired me to foster meaningful connections between my art and people--honoring Delaney’s personable, tenacious, and artistic spirit to make a lasting impact on the world. “

"As a first-generation student, this scholarship would contribute to my education and helping me achieve my dream of going to college. Bridging gaps in understanding is something that programs in the community and school, like music and AVID have done for me and I hope that it is something that I can continue to do as I grow, learn, and progress through life. I will be attending Chapman University and plan on studying Business with a concentration in Marketing. Additionally, with my experience and passion for music, I plan on joining one of the music ensembles on campus. Beyond that, music has taught me the value of persistence, hard work, and the beauty that music brings to life."

Ciara Robertson
Black Belt Scholarship Recipient

"I am so thankful and honored to receive the Delaney Marchant Memorial Foundation scholarship!

When I first started Taekwondo, Delaney was one of my favorite instructors. As a young girl, I looked up to her immensely as a leader and martial artist, and I am grateful to her for inspiring me even now, years later. I have committed to giving back to my community through my creative writing initiatives, including writing and publishing a book on Creative Writing to give to underserved students, creating Teen Writing Groups at two local libraries, founding and running 5 summer camps for 117 underserved youth this past summer, and implementing 100 Summer Success Boxes at two Boys and Girls Club locations to reduce summer learning loss. I am immensely honored and grateful to the Delaney Marchant Memorial Foundation for the scholarship, and I will continue to honor her legacy by serving my community!

Thank you so much once again for the honor of receiving the Delaney Marchant Memorial Foundation scholarship!"

Listen to how Ciara is "Giving Back". Couldn't have gone to a more deserving young student!

Zoey Ashbach
Taekwondo Scholarship Recipient

Zoey is such a deserving winner of this Taekwondo Training Scholarship with her kindness, tenacity, and drive to give back in the spirit of Delaney.  Zoey wanted to give back to her school and raised $200 with her self executed program called Cookies for Cause.  She baked and sold cookies and raised an amazing $200 to give back to her school.  What was so impressive was how Zoey and her family were compassionate enough to learn about Delaney and let others know not only that Zoey wanted to give back but to carry on Delaney's spirit. Below is a picture of Zoey as she presents her check for giving back.

We couldn't be prouder of this young compassionate recipient!
